My name is H. I am 16 years old and I was born in Ho Chi Minh City. I am living at Green Bamboo Shelter. Today, I am going to tell about my life. This is real.

There are 2 people in my family. My grandmother and me. I don’t have any sisters or brothers, and I really don’t know where my parents are. I didn’t know what to do in my life. I couldn’t go to school and I started looking for money when I was 10 years old, man. Yeah, it was a hard time for me, bro.

I met so many problems, yes I know it’s very special and complex with a little boy like me. But I never said, “give up”. I always talked to myself like “keep it up, you can do it, bro, let’s make it different.” I dreamed about one day, my life is being better, I mean, having a lot of money then taking care of my grandmother better. I really love her, she is my life. I love her more than anything.

She always said: “One day you will leave this world. Live a life you will remember. These are days that never die so keep looking up. So what can you do for this life?” I saw she has more power than I thought. Wow, I was surprised when I heard these things.

So let’s talk about my life now. My life is better than I can believe. I can go to school and make new friends. I met my bros from Green Bamboo Shelter. There is a lot of reason to love it here. I have been here for about 2 years. I can study here. Then I saw that English is extremely important.

Speaking English fluently would change my life. English is my favorite thing. You know, I got 79 points on the test from ILA. I was really happy about that, my English is awesome right now. Thank GOD!

So I wanna say thanks to ILA and Green Bamboo Shelter. Having a chance is an amazing feeling.
